Since the corona crisis, the number of home gyms has risen sharply. Not surprising, because you can always exercise at home. You are not dependent on busy sports clubs or the weather. A home gym also gives you much more flexibility than a gym. This way you won't be bothered by other athletes and you don't have to take the opening hours into account. Do you not want to be dependent on sports clubs or are you just tired of sweat-smelling rooms? With our 6 tips you can set up your fitness room at home.

DETERMINE THE BUDGET FOR YOUR HOMEGYM

Building a home gym doesn’t have to be expensive. Often the basics, including an exercise bike, treadmill and some free weights, fit into everyone’s budget. You can build a functional home gym tailored to you with any budget. It’s helpful to determine your budget before you get started, so you can make better choices along the way.

Exercise Bikes

Do you want to work on your stamina, recover from an injury or stay active in a fun way? You can, by cycling on a Flow Fitness exercise bike. There are many different models available, but they have one thing in common: they are all comfortable, have a sporty look and are rock solid.

DETERMINE THE SPACE FOR YOUR HOMEGYM

Before you buy materials and equipment, it is important to determine the space of your home gym. Do you have an empty room? Top! You can of course also choose to build a covered home gym in your garden or make room in the shed. Then you make an inventory of what needs to be done to transform the space you have in mind into a home gym. Is there still junk that can be removed, is there lighting available and is the current floor suitable? For example, a special floor is not necessarily necessary for your own fitness room, but it is useful to prevent damage to your own floor. Make sure you know how much space you have so you can proceed with determining the layout.

INVENTORIZE WHAT YOU NEED

You have determined the space and budget for your home gym. Now it’s time to take stock of what you need to set up your unique home gym.

Make a list of exercises that you do a lot in the gym or that make you happy. Do you want to be able to run when it suits you, regardless of the weather? Then add a treadmill to your list. Do you love strength training? Then a training bench should not be missing. This way, your home gym is completely tailored to your wishes and you will enjoy working out more.

SET UP YOUR HOMEGYM PRACTICALLY

You have already determined which and how much space you have at your disposal. Often you don’t have as much space at home as in the gym. So set up your home gym practically. For example, place large appliances next to each other. Does the room have an awkward corner? Store smaller materials here, such as a mat and scales.
