So, you’ve been spending hours
training on the bikes, treadmills and maybe even in the pool. It has become
your routine – (looks like you may have actually followed through on your
fitness resolutions). The miles pile on day after day. Are you having
trouble keeping motivated? Are you looking for something more? Why not
share your fitness with other like minded trainees by entering in a race and
showcase your talent – either in a triathlon (swim, bike, run), duathlon
(run, bike, run) or running race. Or, if you have not been consistent with
your training, and are having trouble getting back in the groove, why not
use the goal of a race to get back on
Not ready for the races? How about using your training (or starting your training) to participate in a charity run/walk or bike ride. Often times, these charity events will offer group training as a way to prepare you for the event and keep you motivated. In addition, participating in charitable events gives your fitness an even greater sense of purpose – you are not just helping yourself but also benefiting the recipients of the charity as well. There are an abundance of these events here in Rochester which are usually annual so once you catch the “bug” you can plan for the next one and stay motivated year round. Races and charity events also help add a more social aspect to your training if you want it, but are all a celebration of your own health and fitness, provide a great sense of accomplishment and are an invigorating way to keep you going. So, why not give it a TRI! If you are not sure what type of event you would like to start with or when they are held, you can check your local sporting goods, bike or running store and gym for event brochures. These flyers should provide all the information you need to know about the event such as distances, training options, difficulty level and more. You can also check with your local swim, bike, run or triathlon club for more information on events and group training options. These clubs usually offer a more organized structure to your workouts, motivation and camaraderie and will get you well on your way to your first event. If you would prefer to start training on your own, please contact us and we would be happy to design a personalized program to get you prepared.
